One of my favourite spaces in the whole house is the mudroom. It’s connected to our laundry room (which I will do a full post for, on it’s own), as well as Xavi’s dog bath. The previous owners were using that space as a wine room – and as much as I love wine, we just felt like it was wasted space for our growing family. I feel like every household has their “dumping ground”, so-to-speak, and knowing this I wanted to create a dedicated space for the weeks’ bag, jackets, shoes etc, where it was separate from the rest of the house (so we can contain the mess LOL). Here are the before + after’s so you can get the full picture, details below:
We removed absolutely everything + started completely from scratch, adding custom cabinetry to house shoes, jackets, bags etc. that are on rotation that week. There are hooks for hanging and space below to add baskets or just for shoes. Above are closed cabinets to keep smaller accessories, purses, sunglasses or backstock of our diaper supply lol. I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and add some color here, so we settled on this perfect hue of green to add some personality. The same green was also used in Ryder’s bathroom and the spare bath upstairs. Instead of doing something typical for tiling, I really had my heart set on doing a brick-style herringbone pattern. It took us FOREVER to source these tiles, because everything (to me) looked too red/pink, and since we did a green for the cabinetry, I wanted to avoid it veering into feeling christmassy, so we went more towards a mix of grey neutrals, which I think turned out perfect.
