WHAT I WORE: COCKTAIL HOUR

EVER NEW: Dress | Coat  | Shoes | Clutch

It’s that time of year again; to dust off your dancing shoes and find a new dress because cocktail hour is about to be on a continuous rotation. I love dressing up for the holidays and this year was made simple with the help of Australian brand, Ever New. I recently visited the Ever New store here in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre and was immediately impressed with the quality and selection. From weddings and holiday parties to everyday casual looks to polished work outfits, the options are endless and I found so many perfect pieces that could easily be transitioned into different seasons.

My favourite for the holidays was this Arena Fitted Lace Dress with long sleeves and scalloped edges. Finish it off with a bold lip and it’s a perfect option for your next holiday event or party. Strappy block heels (like these ones) are currently one of my favourite shoe this season because they’re extremely comfortable but also look really pretty on. To match, I opted to layer the dress with this Gabriella Wrap Coat. There are so many coats I wanted to take home (like this one and this one, to name only a few!), I love how luxurious the wool blend feels and how structured the designs are. My favourite coat style right now are wrap coats because I love how polished and tailored they look, tying the whole look together. You can give your look a whole different vibe just by wearing the coat open at your sides, or tied up tight. Note: Aussie styles do run smaller, so I would recommend sizing up if you’re purchasing online.

What I love most is that although I chose this dress to wear through the holidays, I can see lots of potential to wear it for special occasions throughout the year. As I’ve gotten older I’ve definitely looked at my clothing options a little differently, nowadays selecting items that can be re-worn or switched out with other shoes and accessories to change up the look.
